What to Do in a Fire
In the event of a fire:
- Pull the fire alarm and evacuate building.
- Evacuate people with disabilities.
- Do not use elevators for building evacuation.
- Extinguish the fire, if possible.
Evacuation Routes
Evacuation routes for multi-story buildings are posted near stairwells. Do not use an elevator to evacuate during a fire.
Fire Orientation
All faculty members should conduct a brief fire orientation in class at the beginning of the semester. This orientation should include identification of fire extinguishers, fire alarms, stairwell exits, location/use of stair chairs, and the need for student assistance in transporting people with disabilities to a safe location.
